From December 30, 2024 to January 12, 2025, I had the opportunity to spend a unique time on the Japanese island of Hokkaido with Freeride Academy . This region is famous for some of the best powder conditions in the world, and the resorts of Niseko and Rusutsu offered us the perfect conditions for unforgettable freeride and splitboard adventures.

Dream powder and legendary splitboard trails

Hokkaido delighted us with endless fields of powder and excellent snow quality. A special experience was the splitboard descent from the majestic Mt Shiribetsu , where we glided through virgin slopes covered with deep snow. Equally magical were the picturesque villages of Rankoshi and the famous volcano Mt Yotei , offering spectacular views and a unique atmosphere.

In addition to the excellent conditions for splitboarding and snowboarding , a trip to Hokkaido is also an encounter with the hospitality of the Japanese , relaxation in onsens and discovering the richness of Japanese cuisine. Fresh sushi, ramen and other local specialties made this trip a full of sensations experience.
